On June 27th 25 members of the Glenview Concert Band participated in “Hot Dog Days” at Weiss Ace Hardware in Glenview. Hot Dog Days is a charity event benefiting Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. A fun time was had by all playing a variety of music for an enthusiastic audience.

As stipulated in its By-Laws, the Glenview Concert Band recently held annual elections for Board of Director positions. Retiring from Board service is Melissa Read. Tressa Meyer was elected to the Board. It should come as no surprise that Janelle Finton pursued a career in music. Her parents are both trumpet players, her mom a retired music teacher to boot. “Growing up, I always heard music in the house,” Finton says. “[My parents] were always playing different recordings of things for me [and teaching] me all the instruments and note names.” Finton played in numerous ensembles throughout school, but realized music could be her career after participating in NYO Jazz, a youth

Members of the Glenview Concert Band presented An Evening of Chamber Music on March 16 at Glenview United Methodist Church. Our emcee for the evening was our illustrious director, Greg Wojcik. The evening’s music varied from the silly to the sublime. Silly tunes such as “Mother Goofs” and “The Nights of the Round Table” from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” were performed by our humorous low brass sections. The fabulous Flute and Clarinet sections played show tunes from “Wic
