Glenview Concert Band to Perform in a Special Concert with Waukegan Middle School Honor Band

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Glenview Concert Band, an adult leisure time activity sponsored by the Glenview Park District, will perform at the Waukegan Middle School Honor Band Festival.  The concert will be held at 3:00 PM in the Trapp Auditorium of the Waukegan High School, Brookside Campus. The high school is located at 2325 Brookside Ave. in Waukegan.

Students from the five Waukegan middle schools who auditioned to be a part of the Honors Band will participate in a special portion of the event by playing with the musicians of the Glenview Concert Band. After the Glenview Concert Band performs a short concert, the Honor Band will join them on stage to play three pieces together.

In preparation for the festival, the Honor Band students will participate in a clinic with the Glenview Concert Band conductor Greg Wojcik on Friday, January 23. Greg recently retired after 38 years of teaching music at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview and is a respected adjudicator and clinician throughout Illinois. Junior high schools hold a special place in his heart, as he began his career teaching band and orchestra at Sunset Ridge School in Northfield. Both the students and band members are in for a special experience, and everyone is looking forward to an outstanding performance.

Students will also participate in a dress rehearsal with the Glenview Concert Band before the concert starts.  This festival provides a valuable opportunity for the Glenview Concert Band to collaborate with talented young musicians. The Honor Band students will experience performing alongside adult musicians who believe deeply in music as a lifelong pursuit.

Ethan Epple, a Waukegan middle school orchestra teacher and lead instrumental music teacher for the district plays flute in the Glenview Concert Band.  He will conduct one of the pieces.

The Glenview Concert Band has been entertaining residents of the Chicago suburbs for 40 years. The Glenview Concert Band is a community band comprised of volunteer adults from the Chicagoland area. The band is based in Glenview, Illinois, and performs concerts at a variety of venues around the north suburbs of Chicago.
