Glenview Concert Band Shares Love of Music with Waukegan Middle School Students

On January 24, 2026, the Glenview Concert Band (GCB) performed a joint concert with a group of middle school students in the Waukegan, Illinois area that were selected to be part of the Waukegan Middle Schools Honor Band.  The GCB was invited to team up with the Waukegan Middle Schools to put on this wonderful concert. In addition to making music together, the students saw firsthand how music can be a lifelong experience. 

The GCB first performed three pieces for the audience and then were joined by 32 middle school instrumentalists for an additional three pieces. The GCB's Director, Greg Wojcik, worked with the middle school students prior to the concert.  

"I, as well as the Glenview Band members, was impressed with the Honors Band members' musical talents and how well they had been prepared by their middle school band directors," said Director Wojcik.  "We were honored to be invited to play with this group, and I really enjoyed getting to work with them!"

The concert was part of the GCB's outreach efforts to 1) demonstrate to school musicians and their parents that playing an instrument can be a rewarding lifetime activity, and 2) encourage school districts to support the performing arts in their schools.

"The Glenview Concert Band appreciated the opportunity to perform in this joint concert and applauds the Waukegan School District for their support of their music program," said Band President Richard Scheuerman.
